On 5th august 2005, my wife gave birth to a baby boy. I was with Meghana (my better half) the whole day, trying hard along with her for a normal delivery, but at around 6:00 pm, the doctor called me and told me that they will have to do a caesarean cos the head of the baby was not coming out. I think there was some scope for normal delivery if the doctor had tried, but I guess Doctor's don't earn much in normal deliveries. We agreed to whatever he suggested.
Meghana was taken to the operation theatre. We all - myself, my parents and Meghana's parents, waited eagerly outside the OT door for the news and at 7:45 pm we heard the first sound of Neev - that's what we named my baby boy. The nurse carried the baby and I was the first person to touch him from the family. I took him in my arms like I was a pro :) ... Believe me till that date, I don't remember taking any small baby in my arms. I always wanted to be the first one to take my baby in arms.
It was one of the happiest day of my life, after about 10 mins, the doctors brought Meghana out of the operation theatre on a stretcher. She was semi-conscious as she was given a anesthesia. When she came out I went near her and was asking her how she was and in sub-conscious state, she kept on asking ... is it a boy or girl??? ... it is a boy or girl???. She was not aware of what had happened. She regained consciousness after about 30 mins, when the nurse showed Neev to Meghana and made him sleep besides her on her bed.
It was a very exciting moment, everyone was happy. Neev was the first child in our family.
Things changed after that day - I became a father :)

Meghana was in the hospital for 3 days and I used to be there with her and Neev all the while. I didn't want to miss even a single movements of my baby at that time. I would sit with my baby in my lap for hours to just see his eyes open and his small soft hands hold my hand. I would deliberately make noise so that he would wake up with the sound, but he was my son ... if I don't wake up .... how would he :)
On 6th morning, we were supposed to take Neev for a bath .... I went with my mom to see my baby's first bath and learn how to do it. I learned that day that bathing such a small kid was a difficult task, but I learned how to clean and change his diapers.
Neev was so small ... his hand were so small and the skin was so thin and delicate.
Neev was the most beautiful thing that happenned to me....
This is my first blog so please send my your feedback and comments ... you will hear more from me soon.
